I think I have put up a post on this some months ago, but today I saw the work in the flesh at the Tate Modern...it is absolutely astonishing and amazing. The Chinese artist Ai Weiwei is a genius..this work is so powerful and the story behind the making of it is poignant. 1600 workers at Jingdezhen participated in the manufacture and painting of these seeds. Each one is completely individual and the number is breathtaking. Unfortunately the public are not allowed to walk on the seeds or touch them which is rather frustrating as one longs to pick up a handful..apparently due to health reasons (dust). Nevertheless - A very special experience

PORCELAIN SUNFLOWER SEEDS TOP HEADLINES
High art meets 'production' ceramics at the Tate Modern in Chinese artist Ai Weiwei's installation - SUNFLOWER SEEDS AT THE TATE MODERN and then yesterday a mysterious closing of the Turbine Hall to visitors...
