INSPIRED BY QUNCI

Hennie Meyer has produced an incredibly slick and professional exhibition inspired by his commission project earlier this year at Qunci Villas in Lombok, Indonesia. Do visit this exhibition at the Rust-en-Vrede Gallery in Durbanville on until 20 December 2012 and view superb installations of modular shapes, forming composite sculptural pieces. There is also a publication which was launched at the opening event, a wonderful documentation of this extraordinary project.

SOUTH AFRICA MEETS CHINA THROUGH CERAMICS

One of the challenging factors of making ceramics in the west today is that there is so much competition in the form of cheap well-designed, high quality ceramics imported from China. So what a rare and wonderful pleasure to see a reversal of roles - Hennie Meyer, top South African ceramist will be having a solo show of his work at the Degas Gallery in Shanghai in December. Congratulations, Hennie!
