YOUNG CREATIVE GURU

One of the narrators in Muriel Barbery's 'Elegance of the Hedgehog' is a wise and insightful teenager who sees through all adult shenanigans. In a recent New Yorker I felt as if I had met this same voice in the person of 14-year old Tavi Gevinson who has been billed as one of the major fashion brights under 16 in the US. Tavi is regularly called on by fashion gurus to opinionate and consult on latest trends. Her blog is quite delightful, creative, quirky with insights that belie her age. So refreshing to discover this whacky creativity in a generation that has seemed for a large part to have accepted mediocrity as a trendy norm.
